Fall Release
Introducing the Fall 2024 varietal and label
Founders Series – James Benjamin Sclater Jr. – True Valor
2021 Cabernet Sauvignon – Napa Valley
True Valor is the fourth release in The Founders series, which honors the six young men that established the brotherhood of Pi Kappa Alpha. Born in Orange County, Virginia, and raised in Richmond, Sclater entered the Virginia Military Institute. As a cadet, he saw military service in the defense of Richmond. At the University of Virginia, he studied medicine and roomed two doors from Taylor in 43 West Range with Robertson Howard, another Founder. After brief employment in the drug industry in Charlotte, North Carolina, he returned to Richmond and worked in his father’s business. Sclater sets the standard on courage and strength of spirit for Pikes everywhere.
We introduce you to James Benjamin Sclater Jr. – True Valor. Cab is king. And in a vintage like this, it shows, as our standard bearer is big, dark, structured and showy. With aromas of blackberry, kirsch and cedar, over a hint of pencil lead. Dense, dark, intense and with sweet fruits on the palate, it is a big wine that will benefit from decanting or giving it time to air as it reveals more layers and depth with each sip.

Spring Release
Introducing the Spring 2024 varietal and label
The Shield and Diamond
2021 Rosé – Napa Valley
The shield and diamond are central designs in the Fraternity’s earliest badging. This iconography was translated into the name of the Fraternity’s early communications. First published in 1890 by Robert Adger Smythe, the Shield & Diamond magazine is today an award-winning publication that tells the stories of Pikes around the world. The magazine serves as a historical record of the Fraternity’s growth and success. From powerful stories of brothers making a difference to the achievements of our chapters, the Shield & Diamond captures the Fraternity’s impact in the lives of our members, alumni, and supporters. Akin to the unique blending process of a fine, rare Rose wine, the Shield & Diamond represents our Fraternity’s unique story. The label contains the masthead from the October 1929 issue.
We introduce you to The Shield and Diamond, our 2021 Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon. The watermelon and strawberry notes burst out of the glass. When served cool on a warm day, the juicy acidity of the 2021 Rosé makes for a very refreshing and versatile wine, perfect to share on any occasion. Look for the hidden imagery in the rose petals.
